Mission Mangal is a fictionalized version of a real story based on 2013-14 incident of a historic event when India (ISRO) successfully pulled off the Mars Orbit Mission becoming the first country to get a satellite to Mars in its first attempt. The movie revolves around the struggle of Indian scientists and their dream to achieve milestones and thus overcoming the same with mere home science techniques and Indian ‘Jugaad’. The movie extra ordinarily signified the women scientists and their lifestyle in an eloquent manner.
The direction of the movie including the graphics were a commendable effort and the picturization of the events were done impressively well. Akshay Kumar as Rakesh Dhawan being the lead hero took a back seat as the movie went on with the female actresses in limelight but nevertheless, he out shined his character with a brilliant acting, screenplay and scripting. The rest of the supporting cast comprising Nithya Menen, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Kirti Kulhari, Sharman Joshi and H.G. Dattatreya, Vikram Gokhale, Sanjay Kapoor, and Dalip Tahil make the best of their characters. The background music along with sound tracks were not as appreciable and supportive but at the same time didn’t leave any bad impression to the viewers.
Overall, the movie was a two timer with a lot of thrill and scientific aspects. Giving a sense of respect and tribute to the unsung heroes of the country, the film played a great role in inculcating the feeling of pride for the ISRO and their scientists who has always given their best foot forward for the development of the nation.
